Modernise

A costed plan to get your .NET product onto supported .NET.

WebForms, MVC 5, WCF, .NET Framework, or .NET 8 and 9 before support ends on 10 November. In ten working days you get a written, phased plan: what to move, in what order, and what it will cost. It's yours to keep, whoever does the work.

£1,950 + VATFixed. Introductory price for our first three assessments (£2,340 inc. VAT at 20%). Normally £2,950 + VAT.

Modernisation assessment: Orders portal

.NET Framework 4.8, WebForms, 212 pages, IIS on Windows Server 2016

Recommendation: migrate incrementally. Run ASP.NET Core alongside the existing app and move the ordering screens first; they change most often and carry the most ViewState.

What you get

A written report of about 12 to 16 pages, and an hour with your team to go through it.

Inventory
Every page, control, project and third-party dependency, and which of them can move to modern .NET as they are.
Risk register
What could go wrong, how likely it is, and what to do about it, ranked by severity.
Options compared
Rewrite, migrate incrementally, upgrade in place or leave alone: the trade-offs for your product specifically.
Phased plan with costs
The recommended order of work, with effort and cost for each phase, so you can budget and decide.
Hosting and deployment
Where the product runs today, what has to change, and how to release without downtime.
Findings call
An hour with your team to walk through the report and answer questions. The report is yours to keep.

A good fit if you have

  • A product on ASP.NET WebForms, MVC 5, WCF or .NET Framework 4.x
  • A product on .NET Core 3.1, .NET 6, .NET 8 or .NET 9, all out of support by 10 November 2026
  • A team that needs to keep shipping features while the platform moves
  • Leadership that wants a costed plan before committing budget

On WebForms? See how a page-by-page migration works.

Probably not the right fit if

  • A small, well-tested app already on .NET 8 or 9. That's usually a straight upgrade, and we'll quote it after a free call
  • A full rewrite in another language has already been decided
  • You need someone on site five days a week

After the plan

The report is yours. What happens next is your choice.

We do the work

Each phase of the plan is quoted as a fixed price, and delivered in small releasable pieces alongside your team.

Your team does it, with senior support

Monthly senior capacity for architecture decisions, code review and the hardest parts of the migration.

You take the plan elsewhere

The report is written so any competent .NET team can follow it. No lock-in.

Modernisation work

Migrations we've led on live systems.

Healthcare. Service lines: Modernise

Online prescriptions platform

A live web application for doctor-authorised prescription delivery, running on an ageing framework that was getting harder to support.

  • Moved the application onto a modern, supported platform incrementally, while the production system kept running
  • Extended the web application and its APIs alongside the in-house team
  • Built the backend for a new mobile app, with secure queue-based messaging
  • Led the cross-platform mobile app, with clean architecture, test-driven development and CI/CD

The platform moved to a supported stack without a big-bang cut-over, and the mobile app went live on the App Store and Google Play.

Agri-tech IoT. Service lines: ModerniseScale

Sensor data platform

An ageing platform on legacy cloud hosting, storing sensor telemetry and operational data in the same database.

  • Led the move to a modern back end and front end, delivered incrementally against the live system
  • Moved hosting onto modern managed cloud services
  • Separated operational and telemetry data, moving logging workloads out of the main database into scalable stores
  • Redesigned data ingestion, storage and retention to reduce cloud costs
  • Built central sign-in and background processing on a message queue

Less contention on the main database, better throughput, lower cloud spend, and a codebase on a supported platform.

Questions

What happens when .NET 8 reaches end of support?
.NET 8 and .NET 9 both reach end of support on 10 November 2026. Your apps keep running, but Microsoft stops shipping security fixes, so any new vulnerability stays open. That also matters for audits such as Cyber Essentials, which require supported software. .NET 10 is the current long-term support release, supported until November 2028.
What access do you need?
Read-only access to your source code repositories and a short call with whoever knows the system best. We don't need production access or customer data for the assessment.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes. Send it over before we look at any code.
We're on .NET 8. Do we need a full assessment?
.NET 8 and .NET 9 reach end of support on 10 November 2026, and the move to .NET 10 is often small. Get in touch and we'll take a free 30-minute look first; if it's a straight upgrade, we'll quote that instead.
Is the £1,950 introductory price permanent?
No. It applies to our first three assessments, while we build a set of reference clients. After that the assessment is £2,950 + VAT. The scope stays the same.
Do you always recommend migrating?
No. Sometimes the right answer is to contain the legacy part, keep it patched and build new features alongside it. The report says so when that's the case.
How is VAT handled?
Tech Pixels Ltd is VAT registered, so VAT is added to the fixed price at the standard rate.

Support dates from Microsoft's .NET support policy.
