Scale

Keep your SaaS fast, affordable and easy to release as it grows.

When tenants, data and the cloud bill grow faster than the platform, we review the architecture, find what's holding it back, and fix it in priority order.

Fixed price, quoted after a free 30-minute call.

Example review, fictional product

Architecture and cost review: Bookings SaaS

Cloud-hosted web app and database, 60 tenants

Example findings
TenancyTenant schemas drift between releasesHigh
DataLogs and telemetry share the main databaseHigh
Cloud spendServices sized for peak, all dayMedium
DeploymentsReleases run by hand from one machineMedium
Background workQueue-based processing already in placeLow

Each finding comes with a fix, an effort estimate and a priority.

What we look at

Multi-tenant architecture
Tenant isolation, per-tenant databases or shared schemas, and keeping every tenant in sync as you release. We've designed a platform serving 40+ tenants from scratch.
Performance
Slow queries, contention and heavy pages, found and fixed. We've built an engine that processes 5M+ records in under a second across relational and document databases.
Cloud cost
Right-sizing, moving the wrong workloads out of the main database, and redesigning ingestion, storage and retention so the bill grows slower than your customer base.
CI/CD and releases
Automated build, test and deploy pipelines, so releasing is routine rather than an event. We set these up on most projects we run.
Background processing
Queues, background workers and serverless functions for the work that shouldn't block a user, with the monitoring to see when it fails.
Keeping it running
Ongoing backend, DevOps and production support for small teams without an in-house backend specialist.

Scaling work

Agri-tech IoT. Service lines: ModerniseScale

Sensor data platform

An ageing platform on legacy cloud hosting, storing sensor telemetry and operational data in the same database.

  • Led the move to a modern back end and front end, delivered incrementally against the live system
  • Moved hosting onto modern managed cloud services
  • Separated operational and telemetry data, moving logging workloads out of the main database into scalable stores
  • Redesigned data ingestion, storage and retention to reduce cloud costs
  • Built central sign-in and background processing on a message queue

Less contention on the main database, better throughput, lower cloud spend, and a codebase on a supported platform.

Travel SaaS. Service lines: ScaleIntegrate

Multi-tenant management platform

A SaaS platform for travel companies to manage agents, travellers, events and payments, needing to serve many companies from one codebase.

  • Designed the multi-tenant architecture from the ground up, now serving 40+ tenants
  • Automated tenant database synchronisation, eliminating cross-tenant schema drift
  • Set up end-to-end CI/CD and introduced a service-based, event-driven design
  • Integrated Stripe, Microsoft 365, Google, HubSpot, RingCentral and XE currency rates
  • Added AI-driven automation to cut manual work for travel consultants
  • Brought the front end up to date across five major versions

One platform serving 40+ tenants, with reliable deployments and lower third-party API costs.

Betting analytics. Service lines: Scale

Real-time analysis engine

Analysts needed results over millions of bets on screen almost instantly.

  • Designed a hybrid data architecture combining a relational and a document database
  • Optimised queries on both, with parallelised data access
  • Delivered the whole system independently: requirements, architecture, build, testing and release

5M+ records processed and returned to screen in under a second.

Children's apps. Service lines: Scale

Children's app backend

A web and mobile app for children in Belgium and the Netherlands that grew quickly during Covid and needed a dependable backend.

  • Sole backend developer since 2022
  • Own the DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Maintain the cloud messaging, serverless functions and web apps, and resolve production issues

The product keeps running with one part-time backend engineer covering code, deployments and support.

Questions

What does a review cover?
Your architecture, data, cloud resources and costs, and release process. You get a written list of findings, each with a fix, an effort estimate and a priority, plus a call to walk through them.
How is it priced?
It's a fixed price, set after a free 30-minute call once we know the size of the platform. Any fixes are quoted separately, phase by phase.
Do you need production access?
Read-only access to the code and to your cloud cost and resource views is enough for the review. We don't need customer data.

Tell us where it hurts.

Slow pages, a rising cloud bill, painful releases or tenants out of sync. We'll suggest where a review should start.
